By the grace of Allah the Prophets are bestowed with different kind of
powers and by the beneficence of the Prophets the Saints are also
bestowed with marvels, therefore they can also cure a lot of things. All
recognized religions of the world show that divine preaching and
miracles have always been co-related and all the prophet, Saints,
messenger of God and founder of various world religions were endorsed
with supernatural powers to propagate the divine message.
Gharib Nawaz (R.A) as one of the Wallie of Allah, was also endowed with
such "Supernatural powers to propagate the divine message for this, I
would say that his full life right from his birth till death was full of
miracles. He did whatever, he wanted and the almighty always granted him
blessing without any delay and if we discuss in deep about his miracles
this full website will get completed in miracles only so I am writing
few of his miracles.
1. As is evident from his life history Khawaja Moinuddin is reported to
have performed two Haj pilgrimages to Mecca before coming out to India.
But the Hajis (pilgrims who visit Mecca during the Haj) who undertook
pilgrimage to Mecca during Khawaja Sahib's stay in Ajmer bore evidence
to the fact on their return to Indian that they saw the great saint in
Mecca personally during the Haj every year. It was indeed one of his
marvelous miracles. How could he do this feat in the absence of any
modern means of transport 700 years ago, is a mystery beyond human
perception and yet it is a fact corroborated by eye witness and history.
During the Haj period, he was seen both in Ajmer and Mecca.
2. One day Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin was passing through a street of
Ajmer with his attendant Sheikh Ali. Suddenly a creditor of Sheikh Ali
appeared on the scene and, holding him by his garment insisted upon the
payment of his debt in a very insolent manner. Pleading on behalf of his
attendant, the Great Khawaja assured the creditor that his debt would
now be paid soon and requested him to let Sheikh Ali go for the time
being. But the creditor would not allow the attendant to move until his
money was paid on the spot. This obduracy at last invoked Khawaja
Sahib's proverbial sympathy for human shortcomings. In a state of 'jazba'
(intense feeling) he took off his 'Chadar' (the wrapper which he wore)
and flung the same on to the ground. And as soon as the 'Chadar' was
flung, it was covered with a big heap of precious silver and gold coins.
The Khawaja Sahib then asked the creditor, "Please take away your debt,
counting honestly as much as it is due to you, from this heap but be
careful not to pick up even a single coin more than what is your
legitimate due." Overpowered by greed at the sight of such a vast
wealth, the creditor mischievously thought of picking up more than what
was actually due to him. But as soon as he stretched his hand towards
the money with this evil intention, it dried up and his arm became as
stiff as an iron rod. The creditor and the onlookers were wonder-struck
at this awful experience. Realizing his guilt, the creditor fell at the
feet of the great saint and begged for mercy. The Khawaja Sahib accepted
the man's apology with his characteristic benevolence and prayed to God
for the restoration of his arm to its normal condition.
3. When Khwaja Gareeb Nawaz went to Sabzwar from Hiraat, he learnt that
the Ruler was a Shia and a tyrant, who would kill people who named their
children Abu Bakr or 'Umar. Khwaja Gareeb Nawaz learnt that he was very
bigoted; his name was Yaadgar Mirza, and the place where he was staying
also belonged to the Ruler. Many people asked Khwaja Gareeb Nawaz not to
sit there as the Ruler was a great tyrant, but Khwaja Gareeb Nawaz paid
no attention to them. Suddenly, the Ruler arrived there with great pomp
and fanfare. He wanted to forbid Khwaja Gareeb Nawaz from sitting there
but as soon as he laid eyes on him, he fell unconscious. A state and
feeling of terror and fear overcame not only him, rather upon all his
colleagues and employees that were with him. None of the other people
had the courage or audacity to move, but Khwaja Gareeb Nawaz was very
kind hearted and compassionate. He got up and sprinkled water on the
face of the Ruler, who then regained consciousness. He repented and
begged for forgiveness; all his colleagues, servants, etc. also repented
and became disciples of Khwaja Gareeb Nawaz. Yaadgar Mirza repented and
furthermore gave all of his wealth, riches, and possessions in the path
of Allah Ta'ala, as well as freeing all the slaves and handmaids. Look
at the Grace and Blessings of Allah Ta'ala and His religion that a
person, whose book of deeds was completely black, joined the groups of
Angels in a split second; an enemy became a friend, and gained spiritual
discipleship (Khilafat) and became a great Friend of Allah Ta'ala in
Hiraat.
4. One day, 'mureed' (disciple) of Khawaja Sahib came to him and
complained, "Sir, the governor of the city has made my life most
miserable by intolerable harassment so much so that today he has order
my banishment from the city." The Khawaja Sahib replied, "But where is
he now, he has already been punished by God?" When the man returned to
his home, he heard the news of the governor's sudden death due to a fall
from his horse while hunting.
5. Once a person appeared before Hazrat Khawaja Sahib and pretended to
say that he was eager to pay his homage to the great saint on that
particular day. The Khawaja Sahib replied "Here I am, but first fulfil
your promise that brings you here". The man began to tremble with the
idea that his secret was out before he could act and, admitting his
guilt, he at once offered his profound apologies. As a matter of fact,
this man was a hireling of some of the enemies of Hazrat Khawaja and had
come with theprecise intention of murdering the holy saint, a fact which
the great saint came to know by his intuitive powers. The man prayed for
the pardon of the saint who forgave him magnanimously. The men then
embraced Islam and became one of the devoted `mureeds' of Khawaja
Moinuddin for the rest of his life.
6. One day Khawaja Moinuddin Chishty was sitting on the bank of the Ana-sagar
lake at Ajmer. A shepherd-boy happened to pass before him with a herd of
young cows who had not yet acquired their maturity. The Khawaja Sahib
asked the boy for some milk from his herd. The boy took it to be a joke
and said, "Baba they are all young calf of immature age; they do not
yield any milk at this age." The Khawaja Sahib smiled and, pointing
towards a young cow, said, "I would like to drink the milk of that cow,
go and milk her." The boy obeyed rather hesitatingly. When he went to
milk this particular cow, he was simply astonished to find her teats
fully developed and over-flowing with milk. The boy filled several
receptacles with milk which 40 persons drank to their full satisfaction.
He was so much impressed by this strange miracle that he became great
devotee of Khawaja Sahib.
7. One day a waiting old woman came to Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin who was
busy with his 'wazoo' (ablution). The woman complained that the governor
of the city had murdered her son without any fault and that she had come
to him to beg for justice. The Khawaja Sahib, after finishing with his 'wazoo'
picked up his 'asa-e-mubarak' (holy staff) and went out with the old
lady to go to the place where the murdered corpse of her son was lying.
His close devotees also followed him in attendance. The Khawaja Sahib
placed the severed heard in its proper position on the body of
themurdered young man and prayed to the Almighty God, "O Allah, if this
man was murdered with any fault, then grant him his life". After this
prayer, the Khawaja Sahib put his staff on the corpse and said, "Get up
by the command of Allah if you are innocent." The young man got up, hale
and hearty, and the next moment both he and his old mother fell down at
the feet of the great saint of Ajmer in solemn gratitude
8. It said that once Khwaja Sahib (R.A) was passing through a Jungle,
some atheist dacoits came in his way. They used to snatch belonging of
travelers and if the traveler was a Muslim they used to kill him as
well. When these decoits faced Khwaja Sahib (R.A), there happened a
miracle, The band of decoits who had been engaged in looting and killing
the people, started trembling with fear, and fell on the feet of Khwaja
Sahib (R.A) and said, "we are your slaves. Be kind to us" when they
repented Khwaja Sahib (R.A) made them recite Kalima and thus they
accepted Islam. Khwaja Sahib (R.A) forbade them for looting and
murdering in the name of the Almighty.
9. It is said -During his tour, Khwaja sahib (R.A), Ohududdin Kirmani (R.A)
and Shaikh Shahbudin(R.A) were sitting together at a place and
discussing some religious point of faith. Suddenly a young boy with a
bow and arrow in hand passed by Khwaja Sahib (R.A) saw him and said, "
The boy is the future king of Delhi."
And his prediction proved to be true and boy became the king of Delhi
with the name of king Shamsuddin Altamash and ruled the country for
about 26 years.
10. Though Khwaja Sahib (R.A) had no means of income but he set up a
langerkhana ( alms- house). The food was so abundant there that all the
poor and needy of the city were fed with it. It is said that he directed
the Chief of the alms- house to demand as much money as needed for the
langarkana. The Chief used to come to him daily in the morning. On his
arrival Khwaja Sahib (R.A) used to unfold the corner of his Musalla and
asked him to take whatever required from the hidden treasury. He himself
used to keep fast and broke it with the dried barley bread, weighing not
more than five misqal (few grms)
11. Once, Hazrat Khwaja Qutubuddin Bakhtiyar Kaki (R.A) was meeting with
the king in the fort of Delhi. The other officials were also present
there. Suddenly a characterless woman came there and asked justice. She
requested the king to get her married, since she was under the state of
mental pain. The king asked her to whom she wanted to be married, and
which sort of agony she is facing, she said, "The fellow who is very
close to you and called himself as Qutub has raped me. As a result I am
pregnant. " Hearing the entire episode, all those present were shocked .
They pulled down their heads with shame. Qutub Sahib (R.A) was also
ashamed . He could do nothing but he turned his face towards Ajmer and
called Khwaja Sahib (R.A) for his help. As and when Khwaja Sahib (R.A)
heard cry of his dear disciple for help, he immediately reached there.
He asked Qutub Sahib (R.A), "What is the matter ? Qutub Sahab (R.A)
could not speak a single word and tears started rolling out of his eyes.
The episode was revealed to Khwaja Sahib (R.A).
All this made Khwaja Sahib (R.A) very much angry. He turned to the
crooked lady and said " O child, inside womb, your mother has alleged
that Qutab Sahib (R.A) is your father. Tell whether it is true ?"
There was a clear voice, from inside the womb, heard by all present
there. The child said, The statement is all wrong. The woman is a
prostitute and has been sent by the enemies of Qutub Sahib (R.A) to
insult and defame him." All the people were much surprised on hearing
all about. The woman himself admitted her false allegation.
Khwaja Sahib (R.A) said, Only Allah can award honour and repute." And
then he returned. Except Hazrat Khwaja Qutubuddin Bakhtiyar Kaki (R.A),
all were much surprised on arrival and disappearance of Khwaja Sahib (R.A).
12. One day, Khwaja Sahib (R.A) was sitting among the disciples and
preaching. Suddenly he saw something on his right side. He stood up as
paying respect to somebody. It happened again and again as and when he
glanced towards right side. When the assembly was over and people left
away, one of his servants asked the reason as to why he had been
standing up repeatedly on having a look at right side. Khwaja Sahib (R.A)
said, "The Mazar of my Peer-o-Murshid is located in that direction. As I
looked towards that direction, the Mazar came before my eyes, so I stood
up to offer respect."
13. Hazrat Sayyed-e-na Khawaja Ghareeb Nawaz went to attend the funeral
of one of his disciples. After performing the funeral prayers He lowered
him into the grave with His hands. Hazrat Sayyed-e-na Bakhtiyaar Kaaki
says that after the burial almost everyone left, but Huzoor Khawaja
Ghareeb Nawaz remained sitting at his grave. Suddenly, He became sad.
After sometime He said (all praise be to Allah) and became satisfied. On
my request He said that the angels of punishment came to my disciple on
which I became worried. Meanwhile, my mentor Hazrat Sayyed-e-na Khawaja
Usman Harooni came and recommended for him in from of the angels, 'O,
angels! This person is a disciple of my disciple, Moinuddin leave him.
The angels said that he was a very big sinner. This conversation was
going on that a voice was heard saying, "O angels we have pardoned this
disciple of Moinuddin Chisty for the sake of Usman for Harooni.": Dear
Islamic Brethren! From this incident a lesson is learnt that we should
become a disciple of some perfect mentor, since because of him the
punishment of the grave can be refrained.
14. It was the assembly of the saints. Everyone of them agreed to show
his miracles. Thus Khwaja Usman Harooni (R.A) turned his Musallah and
took out some pieces of gold and gave them to a Durvesh and asked him to
bring some sweets for all present their. Shaikh Ohuddin Kirmani (R.A)
touched a piece of wood and it turned into gold.
When Khwaja Usman Harooni (R.A) insisted, Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (R.A) knew
through Divine inspiration that one of the persons of the present
assembly is hungry but could not tell others because of modesty . Thus
Khwaja Sahib (R.A) took out four barley Rotis and put them before the
person.
15. It is narrated that once Aurangzaib Alamgir went to the glorious
Shrine of the King of India Khawaja Ghareeb Nawaz. Within the boundary a
blind beggar was crying out, Ya Khawaja Ghareeb Nawaz! Restore my sight.
He asked this beggar, Baba! How long has it been since asking for the
vision? He said that it has been ages but my wish is unfulfilled. He
said that I shall return in a short time after paying a visit to the
Holy Shrine, if your eyes gain vision very well, otherwise I will have
you killed. After saying this the King called for the guards to keep an
eye on the beggar, and King went inside to pay his respect. On the other
hand, the beggar started lamenting and kept requesting while weeping, "Ya
Khawaja! First the deal was of eyes only but now it involves life, if
you do not show mercy I will be killed." When the King returned after
paying his respect, His eyes had acquired the vision. The King smiled
and said that until now you were asking without devoting heart and
concentration, and now because of fear of life you asked from your
heart, hence your was fulfilled.Khawaja now look towards the sinner with
a vision full of cure. The disease of committing sins has overpowered
this sinful being.
16. When Sayyed-e-na Khawaja Ghareeb Nawaz came to Ajmair Shareef
foremost He sat under a peepul tree. This place was reserved for the
camels of the hindu raja, prithvi raj, of that place. The servants of
the raja came and started being rough on him and rudely said that you
people is the resting place for the camels of the raja. Khawaja Sahib
said, "fine we people will go, may your camels remain seated here."
Hence the camels were made to sit over there. In the morning the
camel-driver came and tried to make the camels stand up, but even after
trying everything the camels did not stand up. They got scared and went
to the grand presence of Hazrat Sayyed-e-na Khawaja Sahib and shamefully
begged for forgiveness, for the rudeness. The uncrowned King of India
Sayyed-e-na Khawaja Ghareeb Nawaz said, "Go by the order of Allah your
camels have stood up." When they returned all the camels were infact
standing up. Khawaja-e-Hind your saintly court is so grand. Never did
anyone return with any unfulfilled need from there.
17. Someone complained to the King that some people of another religion
have come and camped near our place of worship. The King ordered that
they be forcibly removed. When they came and surrounded the Muslims,
Hazrat Khwaja Gareeb Nawaz Rehmatullahe Ta'ala 'Alaih recited Ayatul
Kursi on some sand and threw it at them. Whomever the grains of sand
fell on became unconscious and froze. On the third day, the King and
citizens of the city gathered at the lake to worship. Ram Dev Mehnat
moved forward to physically remove Hazrat Khwaja Gareeb Nawaz
Rehmatullahe Ta'ala 'Alaih, but as soon as Khwaja Saheb looked him in
the eye, he was overcome with awe and fear. He immediately fell at the
feet of Khwaja Saheb and accepted Islam. He was the first one to accept
Islam and who, later on, achieved a great status. |
